Jimmy Buffett Musical Heading to Broadway in 2018 – Video Report

buffett-jimmy-51c693866109fHis name is on casinos, cafes, resorts, vacation clubs, blenders, boozes, snacks, beach chairs, bicycles and now he’s headed to Broadway. ‘Escape to Margaritaville’ will feature the great tunes of Buffett and debut in the spring of 2018.

Buffett said, “It’s always been a dream of mine to make it to Broadway!” Actor/writer Mike O’Malley and Greg Garcia wrote the original story.

The synopsis according to Playbill: “Imagine a place where the sun is hot, the ocean’s warm, and the drinks are as cold as they are plentiful. Welcome to Margaritaville, the island paradise where city folk get away from it all and the locals get into the kind of trouble you can almost always sweet talk your way out of. This new musical is the story of a part-time bartender, part-time singer, and full-time charmer named Tully who thinks he’s got life all figured out. Until a beautiful career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything.”

Buffett’s brand is taught in marketing classes all over the world. With his loyal fans known as “Parrotheads,’ there’s never enough sun and drink, good times, great attitudes and, of course honest, tasty music.

I used to take my son to a all – ages Jam at a great club called The Ironwood and it was usually 10% filled each Saturday. One day, to our amazement the place was full – jam-packed. Our first thought was our town is finally supporting young artists but no…the place was full of Parrotheads waiting to see a Jimmy Buffett cover band. This is a loyalty that sticks. – John Beaudin
