The actress is obviously suffering from severe mental illness and many have been critical of the TV doctor displaying her, warts and all, in front of the world, though that is what he does.

In the interview Duvall said she didn’t have friends. The answer didn’t come easy like everything else in the interview. Duvall evaded many questions including if she had any friends.

The 67-year-old actress of “The Shining,” and “Popeye,”hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2002, says she would love to return to acting.

Dr. Phil brought up something we have all witnessed in mental illness, but many didn’t know what it was called “Clang Association.” It’s common in patients with psychosis in bipolar disorder or in schizophrenia. She took a word and ran with it for instance saying, “I’m a Girl, I’m not Shelley Berman, nor am I Shelley Hack or, what’s her name, Shelley Winters. The actress also mentioned 68 different people during the interview. Some were real people like her ‘Shining” co-star Jack Nicholson some not so much like Father Goose and the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Duvall also stated that she believes Robin Williams, her late co-star in the film, is not dead, and a “shapeshifter.”

shelleyVivian Kubrick, the daughter of legendary director Stanley Kubrick has been very vocal about her distaste about the episode called the show “purely a form of lurid and exploitive entertainment — it’s appallingly cruel.” Kubrick has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the actress.

This was hard to watch. It was painful considering the person she used to be. Sure, she always seemed vulnerable in the past but no one could see this coming. One could tell it was Shelley Duvall but she really didn’t look like herself. I looked away a few times and there was her voice.

After three days Duvall left treatment but Dr. Phil says she is still getting help. – by John Beaudin
