Don Henley says the Eagles are done. They Will Not Reunite With Glenn Frey’s Son #EaglesOfficiallyDone

With all the controversy about only the last four members of the band receiving Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday night Henley wanted to be direct and blunt about the band.

Henley says a reunion “would just seem like greed or something,” says Henley. “It would seem like a desperate thing.”

Bernie Leadon had an interesting memory from the last time he played with Frey and the Eagles. It was July 29, 2015 in Louisiana. Just before the final encore, “He gave me a big, huge thanks for participating,” remembers Leadon. “Then he said, ‘It’s been really awesome to have you back out there. This is not the end.’ ” We never know when it’s the end. That’s probably a good thing. Frey did tell Bod Seger, his old friend that gave Frey a spot in his band before the group formed that the Eagles would go on and possible play “Hotel California” in concert in it’s entirety.

Henley, speaking off the cuff did say that maybe the Eagles could reunion with Frey’s son Deacon but realistically it would have watered down the band – No disrespect to him but he was not an Eagle. Randy Meissner can’t physically and mentally do it and Don Felder and Henley may never talk to each other again. It was always a long shot.

As for the Henley/Frey relationship JD Souther who has always been thought of as an extended member of the Eagles family like Jackson Brown says, “Quite frankly, the thing we don’t hear often enough is that I think they really missed each other’s company and this thing they knew they could do probably better than just about anybody.” While Brown says, “I think that they figured out how to come back together and work, but I don’t think they ever quite achieved the same kind of bond that they had in their youth,” he says.

Frey died in January 18 of this year from complications brought on by years of battling rheumatoid arthritis and colitis. He was 67.
