Carrie Fisher Dead at 60: Full Video Report & We Look back #RIPCarrieFisher #RIPLeia

carrie-fisher-1“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd (her daughter) confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning,” reads the statement.

The actress and author was on a flight from London to LAX on Friday, Dec. 23, when she went into cardiac arrest. Passengers on the plane immediately administering CPR and luckily an EMT was on board the flight. This all happened fifteen minutes before the plan was to land. Fisher was returning from a book tour to promote her latest, ‘The Princess Diarist’ that was published on Nov 22 of this year.

Even though she played many different roles since the 70’s Fisher will always be known as Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy (1977–83) and the most recent ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ in 2015. She had done over 45 movies including playing Marie, Meg Ryan’s best friend in ‘When Harry Met Sally’ in 1989. She was also in Shampoo in 1975, 1980’s The Blues Brothers, Hannah and Her Sisters in 1986, and the ‘Burbs in 1989.

She was born on October 21, 1956. A Hollywood baby in the truest form as the daughter of singer Eddie Fisher and actress Debbie Reynolds but that union didn’t last as Fisher left Reynolds for close friend Elizabeth Taylor. Fisher dealt with all the drama of her parents by becoming a bookworm. It probably helped when she herself became an author. Her semi-autobiographical novel ‘Postcards from the Edge’ was a big hit. The book ‘Wishful Drinking’ featured her as Princess Leia with her head down on her arms. In January 2009 New York Times review described it as a “funny, sardonic little memoir.”

Her writing chops also got her many gigs as a top script doctor in Hollywood fixing the George Lucas’ words in 1992 TV series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, as well as the dialogue for the Star Wars prequel scripts. She also fixed up the scripts on Hook, Lethal Weapon 3, Sister Act, My Girl 2, Outbreak, The Wedding Singer, Coyote Ugly and Scream 3.

Fisher was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago. She also battled some addictions including cocaine and prescription medications.

She once told Matt Lauer on NBC’s Today that had she known the role of Princess Leia would give her the celebrity status that made her parents’ lives difficult she would have turned it down.

Fisher also admitted in her new book that yes she did have a wild affair with Star Wars co-star Harrison Ford..

Her part in the next Star Wars: Episode VIII has already been filmed. – by John Beaudin
