Canadian’s Justin Bieber and Drake Win Big At The American Music Awards #AMAs

drakeIt was a trip. In the first hour they had only given away three awards. Drake had a big night winning 4 awards including ‘Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist’ and Rap/Hip-Hop Album for ‘Views.” Drake broke Michael’s Jackson’s record for most nominations with 13 this year. Jackson had 11 nominations in 1984.

Drake’s fellow Canadian Justin Bieber also picked up four awards including ‘Video,” ‘Album” and “Song Of The Year,” in Pop and Rock as well as Favorite Male Artist.

Rihanna picked up three in the R&B category – ‘Female Artist, Album and ‘Song of the Year.”

Twenty One Pilots won two awards, ‘Favorite Alternative Rock Artist and Favorite Duo or Group in Pop Rock.

Sting was honoured with the American Music Award of Merit. Robert Downey Jr. Presented the singer with the award. The singer did a medley of classic tunes and a touch of his first Rock album in ten years, “57th & 9th.”

There were tons of performances including Ariana Grande featuring Nicki Minaj grabbing her crotch. Once you see it you cannot un-see it. Bieber was not there but he did perform from his concert venue. Other performers included Lady Gaga, Green Day, John Legend, Shawn Mendes and Twenty One Pilots. Bruno Mars opened up the show with his new tune, “24K Magic. Who sang Live? The American Music Awards have been criticized for lots of lip-synching in the past.
