Actor Alan Thicke has died. He was 69 – Full Story: We Look Back
The actor had a heart attack while playing hockey with his 19-year-old son Carter. He was pronounced dead in early afternoon at Providence St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Burbank, California.
Thicke did it all. He was an actor, writer, singer and TV host but he will always be best known as Dr. Jason Seaver from the 80’s sitcom ‘Growing Pains.’ He was born in Kirkland Lake, Ont., in 1947 and wore his Canadian badge proudly. He hosted The Alan Thicke Show in his native country from 1980 to 83. He tried unsucessfully to compete with the late night TV boys with his Thicke of the Night from 83-84 and would later admit that the show was a dogger. He could always laugh at himself maybe that was why so many could relate to him. He’d be the first to tell you he never did anything particulary well but he did lots of things, never quitting and they were ok.
Thicke was set to appear in the revamped ‘Full House’ series on Netflix called ‘Fuller House.’
Comedian Bob Saget of Full House fame called Thicke “a good husband, father, brother and friend,” and Ellen DeGeneres declared: “America loved Alan Thicke.”
A few years ago I had the pleasure of talking with Thicke about his son Robin’s success. He was a very entertaining and kind interview.
